Gymnastics + Swimming

The camp will teach boys and girls basic gymnastics skills based on their current level of knowledge. Gymnastics instruction will be from 10:00 -1:00 (with a break for lunch) and an hour of free swim time from 1:00-2:00. NMCCS will provide busing from one or more local schools TBD based on enrollment. Students will be responsible for packing a lunch for the trip. 2 Chaperones are needed for this camp. They will chaperone the bus as well as at the YMCA (will need to be in the pool). Max 30 gymnasts!

  • When:  June 18th, 25th, and July 2rd; 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. CST

Babysitter’s Training

Taught by a certified American Red Cross Instructor. This course teaches youth ages 11-15 the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Combining video and interactive activities, this course helps students develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and the children in their care safe, engage children in age-appropriate activities; manage difficult situations on the job, and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Max 10 Sitters.

  • Who: Ages 11 to 15
  • When: June 19th, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. CST

Art Camp

Taught by Art Teacher, Emily Westphal. Through the course of the 4-day camp, 4 projects will be completed. On the last day, we will display all of the completed work in a mini-art show in the North Central H.S. Cafeteria. Everyone is invited to view masterpieces created at the camp. Artwork can be taken home after the show. A snack for each class will be provided. If there are over 15 young artists registered, they will be split into 2 sessions. Max 30.

  • Who:    2nd -5th grade (Current school year)
  • When:  June 19th through the 22nd; 9:00 a.m. to Noon CST.
  • Where: NCA H.S. Art Room
  • Fee:      $25 (includes a t-shirt and snack)

Minecraft Camp

Let’s mod Minecraft! Join a local robotics team, The BetaWolves, for a Minecraft Summer Camp. We will be playing Minecraft on a local server. Expect to learn some basic Java programming as we create and install basic mods to customize and enhance the game.  Max 12 Minecrafters!

  • Who:    5th -8th grade (current school year)
  • When:  July 23 through July 26th, 9:00 a.m to Noon CST.
  • Where: Carney-Nadeau School Robotics Lab
  • Fee:       $25 (includes a t-shirt)

Intro To Guitars

Taught by Bill Martin who has over 30 years of experience playing guitar and over 14 years of teaching experience. While attending lessons the students will learn: basic chords, how to tune the guitar, notes associated with the frets, some basic songs, names of the strings. You do not need to have your own guitar, Community Schools has guitars available to use for the duration of the camp. Max 10 Guitarists!

  • Who:    3rd-6th grade (current school year)
  • When:  August 13th-16th, 10:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. CST
  • Where:  NMCCS Building

Horse Camp

Instructed by Nita Curtis & the Midnight Riders 4-H club in cooperation with the Carney Round-Up Rodeo Grounds. Students will learn about grooming and caring for horses and will be introduced to a number of different riding disciplines. Those who register must return a liability waiver and must wear shoes or boots–NO SANDALS! Max 20 youngsters!

  • Who:    Ages 5 and up
  • When:  August 8th, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST
  • Where: Nadeau Township Hall (Carney Round-up Rodeo Grounds)
  • Fee:       $10 (includes a t-shirt)

Beginner’s Archery Camp

Instructed by Randy Allen, National Archery Coach. The campwill focus on form and safety, giving basics that will get students safely shooting and a feel for archery. Participants will learn about safety, equipment, technique, mental concentration, self-improvement, archery history, and team competition. There will be a competition held on the last day. If more than 12 archers, camp will be split into 2 sessions. Max 24

  • Who:     Ages 8 and up
  • When:   August 6th-9th,  9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. CST
  • Where:  NMCCS Building

Master’s Archery Camp

Instructed by Randy Allen, National Archery Coach. Participants will further develop skills learned in the Beginner’s Camp (mental concentration, self-improvement, technique). Students will be introduced to recurve and compound style bows. Some of Dr. Allen’s students have experienced great success in archery competition, including participation in the Nation Championships. If more than 12 archers, clinic will be split into 2 sessions. Adult volunteers are needed to help run the line.  Parents/adults interested in volunteering during the camp, please contact us. Max 24
